The dish reflects the strength of breaking barriers, much like Lisa Cook's historic role, and the importance of giving voice to untold stories, as seen in Virginia Roberts Giuffre's narrative. The fish represents the courage to rise above challenges, while the pasta embodies the interconnectedness of our experiences. Instructions

  1. Boil a large pot of salted water and cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium-high heat. Season the fish fillets with salt and black pepper.
  3. Once the oil is hot, add the fish to the skillet. Sear for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from skillet and keep warm.
  4. In the same skillet, add the remaining olive oil and minced garlic. Sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  5. Stir in the lemon juice, zest, and cooked pasta, tossing to combine. Add chopped parsley and red pepper flakes, mixing well to incorporate flavors.
  6. Plate the lemon garlic pasta, top with the seared fish fillets, and garnish with extra parsley and a sprinkle of red pepper flakes if desired.
